Trump Says Iran Attack Delayed as Gulf States Push for Diplomatic Deal
US President Donald Trump has stated that a planned military strike on Iran has been temporarily delayed following requests from Gulf leaders, who are encouraging diplomatic efforts to resolve rising tensions.
Trump announced on his Truth Social account that he would “hold off” on the scheduled attack, noting that “serious negotiations” were currently underway between Washington and Tehran. He added that Gulf countries believe “a deal will be made,” signaling cautious optimism for a diplomatic breakthrough.
At the same time, Trump warned that the United States remains fully prepared for a “full, large scale assault of Iran, on a moment’s notice, in the event that an acceptable Deal is not reached,” highlighting the continued volatility of the situation.
Meanwhile, Iran confirmed it has responded to a new US proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, stating that discussions are still in progress despite disagreements over key demands. Iranian officials said exchanges are continuing through a mediator and stressed that negotiations remain active.
Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said that “as we announced yesterday, our concerns were conveyed to the American side,” adding that communication is ongoing through a Pakistani-mediated channel.
Iran has maintained that its core demands include the release of frozen assets abroad and the lifting of long-standing sanctions. Baqaei stated, “The points raised are Iranian demands that have been firmly defended by the Iranian negotiating team in every round of negotiations,” while also insisting on war reparations from the United States.
He further emphasized that Iran is “fully prepared for any eventuality,” indicating readiness for both diplomatic and military outcomes.
Reports from Iranian media suggest that the United States has proposed strict conditions, including limiting Iran to a single nuclear facility and transferring enriched uranium stockpiles to US control. Tehran has rejected these terms as excessive and one-sided.
Iranian outlets also claim that Washington has not offered significant concessions, instead pressing demands that Tehran believes could stall negotiations. Officials described the current US stance as creating a potential deadlock in the peace process.
