Iran says US responsible for ceasefire violations

08 June, 2026 13:13

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei held a press conference in which he strongly criticized the United States and Israel, saying that Israeli actions cannot be separated from US policies.

Baghaei said Iran had already expressed concerns about both the United States and Israel, adding that Washington should stop supporting Israel. He said ceasefire violations are unacceptable and claimed that the United States is directly responsible for recent violations.

He stated that Iran has no issues with neighboring countries, but expressed regret over states that allowed their territories to be used against Iran.

According to him, Israel has continued what he described as the killing of Palestinians in Gaza for the past three years. He also criticized neighboring countries, including Egypt, for not speaking out strongly against the situation.

Baghaei said Iran had respected ceasefire agreements, while the United States and Israel repeatedly violated them. He added that Israel has continued attacks on Lebanon despite ceasefire arrangements.

He further said that Iran is fully prepared to respond strongly to any aggression and will defend its national interests and institutions with all available means.

The spokesperson claimed that current regional developments are part of US planning and that Israel acts under American support and approval. He added that without US backing, Israel would not be able to operate in the region.

Baghaei also accused Washington of playing a contradictory role that is harming diplomatic efforts, saying that diplomacy and national interests must continue together despite tensions.

He said Iran will not allow Israel or the United States to take advantage of ceasefires to escalate violations.

He further stated that violations of the Lebanon ceasefire are affecting diplomatic efforts in the region.

In addition, he criticized the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, saying he holds a biased and unconstructive stance on Iran’s nuclear program.
