Iran and Oman Hold First Joint Hormuz Committee Meeting

Iran and Oman have held the first meeting of their newly established joint Hormuz committee, marking a new step in bilateral cooperation on the future governance of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, announced the development in a post on X on Monday.
According to Gharibabadi, the committee discussed issues related to the management and governance of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital maritime routes for global oil and gas shipments. The meeting reflects growing diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Muscat on regional maritime affairs.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway linking the Persian Gulf to International waters and has long been at the centre of regional security and energy concerns. The establishment of the joint committee underscores the importance both countries place on dialogue and cooperation in addressing issues related to the strategic passage.
