France Follows Australia in Banning Social Media for Young Children

France has followed Australia in taking action to protect children from the possible harmful effects of social media.

The French parliament has approved a ban on social media use for children under the age of 15, according to France 24. French President Emmanuel Macron called the move a major step forward and said France was leading Europe in protecting children and young people.

The decision comes amid growing concerns about the impact of social media on children’s mental health. Experts say excessive screen time at a young age can affect children’s mental, social and physical development.

Several countries, including Australia, France, the United States and China, have introduced or considered restrictions on children’s social media use.

Experts say Pakistan also needs effective laws and greater parental guidance to protect children from harmful online content and the negative effects of social media.
