Israeli Forces Intensify Attacks in Southern Lebanon Despite Ceasefire

Israeli forces have carried out artillery and machine-gun attacks, a ground incursion and the burning of residential houses in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect on April 16, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA).

NNA reported that Israeli forces opened machine-gun fire toward Wadi al-Salouqi in Nabatieh Governorate and shelled the town of Mansouri overnight. Israeli forces also carried out two explosions in the Mansouri area, while another major explosion was reported in the Kfar Tebnit area of Nabatieh. Intermittent artillery fire was also directed at surrounding areas of Nabatieh al-Fawqa from Israeli military positions.

In the town of Khiam, Israeli forces reportedly set fire to several houses as military operations continued inside the town. The developments come amid continued Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire arrangement.

NNA further reported that Israeli forces advanced toward the western outskirts of Mays al-Jabal, accompanied by artillery fire directed at a residential building. Israeli drones also flew at low altitude over the Zahrani area. No casualties or property damage were immediately reported in connection with the latest incidents.
