US Cancels Over 175,000 Visas in Immigration Crackdown

11 August, 2026 13:45

The Trump administration has cancelled more than 175,000 US visas as part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration, according to new figures released by the US State Department.

Officials said more than 175,000 visas have been revoked so far. The cancellations were linked to various criminal offenses and other violations.

According to the State Department, major reasons for visa cancellations include assault, theft, drug-related offenses, driving under the influence, sexual crimes, fraud and child abuse.

Action has also been taken against people accused of misusing the US immigration system or posing a threat to national security.

US officials said the visa review and cancellation process will continue under President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The administration has said it will maintain strict checks on visa holders as part of its broader efforts to strengthen immigration enforcement and protect national security.
