Velayati: America’s Future Will Be Decided at the Family Kitchen Table, Not the War Room

A senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Akbar Velayati, has criticized the US administration’s threatening rhetoric toward Iran, arguing that Washington’s future will ultimately be shaped by economic conditions and the daily lives of American families rather than decisions made in military planning rooms.
In a message on X marking the 73rd anniversary of the August 19, 1953 US-backed coup in Iran, Velayati said Washington continues to rely on the same pressure tactics and hostile rhetoric toward Tehran decades after the coup that toppled democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and restored the monarchical rule of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. He pointed to recent US statements on economic sanctions against Iran and warnings that “all options are on the table.”
Velayati argued that the consequences of Washington’s policies are increasingly being felt by ordinary Americans, citing US Senator John Cornyn’s warnings about rising prices and cost-of-living pressures facing families. “Whatever options may be on the table, America’s future will be decided at the family kitchen table not around the war-room table,” he said, emphasizing the economic and social pressures facing the United States.
