Pezeshkian Says Iran’s Resilience Has Defied Enemy Predictions of Collapse

23 August, 2026 13:20

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said the enemy’s assessment that Iran would collapse under intense pressure has been proven wrong, with the country’s resilience, solidarity and national cohesion leaving the world impressed. Addressing a gathering at the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, on the first day of Government Week, Pezeshkian said Iran had not only withstood the pressure but had emerged stronger.

Pezeshkian acknowledged the severe challenges facing the country and said analysts had been unable to explain how the Iranian nation had demonstrated such resilience. Referring to the words of the late Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, he described the nation’s renewed strength as a form of “resurrection,” saying the Iranian people had remained steadfast despite unprecedented pressure.

The president said Iran was facing what he described as a “full-scale economic war” as well as military and security pressures imposed by its adversaries. Referring to US President Donald Trump’s threats of imposing “the most horrific sanctions” on Iran, Pezeshkian urged national unity and called on people to support one another as they had during the 1980-88 Sacred Defense, stressing that the government would continue efforts to serve the people despite the unequal pressure.
