Taliban Regime’s Restrictions on Afghan Women Remain in Place

The Taliban regime remains to impose severe and biased margins on women and girls in Afghanistan.

During the Taliban’s rule, gender discrimination against Afghan women has become a state policy, severely limiting their rights and freedoms.

International media outlet The Guardian has highlighted the Taliban’s harsh and restrictive policies, under which women and girls face widespread restrictions on education, employment and public life.

The Taliban has introduced measures that have effectively pushed half of Afghanistan’s population to the margins of society and stripped them of basic rights.

The regime has also been accused of changing and enforcing laws to strengthen its control over women, while reports have raised concerns about the legalization and growing acceptance of child marriage.

Afghan investigative outlet Zin Times has further reported that some accused individuals are allegedly escaping punishment under the protection or patronage of authorities.
