Fighting in Syria’s Dara’a Leaves Three HTS-Affiliated Militants Dead

At least three militants affiliated with Syria’s ruling Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) authorities have reportedly been killed and several others injured following fierce clashes with local armed fighters in al-Sanamayn city in the southwestern province of Dara’a. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the fighting erupted on Thursday after local gunmen opened fire on HTS-affiliated forces conducting an operation in the area. HTS forces subsequently deployed across the city and launched a search operation for those responsible.

The clashes come amid growing protests in several parts of Syria over deteriorating economic conditions and shortages of essential services. In Hasakah province, protesters have reportedly blocked the M4 international highway near Tal Tamr for a fourth consecutive day, disrupting oil-tanker traffic and other vehicles. Demonstrators are demanding improvements in living conditions and action to address fuel shortages and inadequate public services.

Elsewhere, residents in Aleppo’s al-Sukkari district demonstrated against violence and property damage associated with earlier protests over fuel-price increases, calling for grievances to be addressed through peaceful means. In Dayr al-Zawr, workers at the al-Omar oil field continued a road blockade for a second day to protest delayed wages and unpaid financial obligations reportedly outstanding for more than eight months. Protesters burned tires and prevented field vehicles from passing, saying they would maintain the blockade until their demands were addressed.
