294740 corona patients have so far recovered in Pakistan, according to latest statistics which National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) issued.

It confirmed 798 new cases surfaced in the country as result of 42,299 tests conducted during the last twenty-four hours.

The overall death toll has risen to 6,444 losing more seven patients their lives.

544 patients are in critical condition while there are 7,831 active cases in the country.

On the other hand, President Dr. Arif Alvi has said the government’s strategy of smart lockdown proved very effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

He said this, while addressing the virtual meeting of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of Northern Europe.

Furthermore, he said the institutions in Pakistan have been working effectively.

Dr Alvi also referred to functioning of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said its contact and tracing strategy proved very effective in tackling the infection; hence, he termed it  very important for the rest of the world to learn from it.

The President also enumerated various initiatives and campaigns which the government had launched  to overcome different diseases like polio and hepatitis, which posed a challenge.
