Afghan leadership has a rare opportunity to make joint efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said this while talking to his interim Afghan counterpart Haneef Atmar on telephone on Monday.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue assistance in the establishment of a stable, prosperous and peaceful Afghanistan.

He said with the US-Taliban peace agreement, Afghan leadership has a rare opportunity to make joint efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He further said Pakistan will continue its reconciliatory role in Afghan peace process sincerely.

“Pakistan has taken a number of steps to facilitate the movement of Afghan people and freight containers in view of prevalent pandemic situation.”

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood also spoke to Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of UAE.

Shah Mehmood exchanged views on bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

They also discussed steps to prevent spread of Coronavirus.

He also thanked Emirati counterpart for UAE’s decision to release 400 Pakistani prisoners, detained in UAE jails.

He told the UAE Foreign Minister that Pakistan will start flight operation from Tuesday.

It will continue such flights to 28th of April for repatriation of stranded Pakistanis from the United Arab Emirates.

UAE’s FM commended efforts of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister  Qureshi for facilitating the developing countries in loans to support their to economies.

However, Shah Mahmood also spoke on India related matters.

He said that it is unfortunate that the Indian Government is negatively manipulating the COVID-19 pandemic to give it religious colour.
