Cabinet approves probe into the Broadsheet issue thru inquiry commission.

Information Minister Syed Shibli Faraz said, while briefing the media in Islamabad.

He briefed them regarding federal cabinet’s decision during their meeting Tuesday.

Shibli further said that the cabinet approved a commission under the Commission of Inquiry Act 2017 to probe the Broadsheet revelations.

The Minister said Adviser on Institutional Reforms Dr Ishrat Hussain briefed on abolishing 70,000 vacancies in various ministries and divisions.

Besides, Dr Ishrat briefed on reducing the number of Federal Government institutions from 441 to 324.

He told that expenditure of ministries and institutions has not been increased in the last two years.

Moreover, he shared of referring the restructuring plan of seven institutions to the concerned Ministries for implementation.

Regularization of contract and daily-wager employees

Shibli further said the cabinet also approved reconstitution of a committee regarding regularization of contract and daily-wager employees in light of the Islamabad High Court’s decision.

He said recommendations of the Ministry of National Health Services and Regulations also got cabinet’s nod regarding import of Corona vaccine.

Furthermore, he said the officials concerned briefed that exports witnessed a significant rise.

They shared increase of remittances by $2.8 billion and surge of foreign exchange reserves $2bn during the last six months.

Tax collection swelled by 7.9 percent in December last year, while funds utilized under the Public Sector Development Program increased by 7.4 percent as compared to the same period last fiscal year.

The Information Minister said the cabinet extended application of Pakistan Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1952 to the employees of National Institutional Facilitation Technologies, Pakistan Security Printing Corporation and Security Papers Limited Karachi for another six months period.
