PM launches olive plantation campaign in Nowshera district in KP

PM launches olive plantation campaign in Nowshera district in KP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) today.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also addressed the launching ceremony.

He further said olive plantation will help address climate change and increase exports of the country.

He said said Pakistan spends a lot on import of edible oil.

However, the production of olive oil locally through planting olive trees particularly on western bank of the Sindh River would help reduce import.

The PM noted food security as a serious challenge for Pakistan as the country imports sugar, wheat, oil and ghee.

Moreover, the Prime Minister said the fast growing population adds to this challenge.

He said the production of olive oil can also generate news jobs and flourish businesses in the country.

He said the the PTI government’s ten billion tree tsunami project also aims to safeguard our generations from the effects of climate change.

The PM also asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to use the Miyawaki method of plantation in Peshawar to tackle the growing issue of pollution in the city.

Moreover, he said the government is including fruit trees in Ten Billion Tree Tsunami.

That will also create new employment opportunities.

The PM said areas will be divided in different zones scientifically to plant specific fruit trees.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s vulnerability in climate change.

Thee Prime Minister urged the youth to participate in plantation campaigns in their areas.
