Female Palestinian artist killed in Israeli airstrike

Renowned female Palestinian artist Mahasen al-Khatib and her entire family were killed in an Israeli airstrike on her home in Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza.
She is known for her illustrations and character designs.
The strike occurred just hours after she posted her final artwork on social media, which was a tribute to 19-year-old Shaban al-Dalu.
Through her art, Mahasen showed the devastating reality of life in Gaza.
Despite all the challenges, she continued to expose Israeli genocide on social media through her art.
“The house was full of displaced people when Israel launched a series of intense attacks on the neighbourhood,” Mahasen’s uncle, Hosam al-Khateeb, said while talking to Middle East Eye.

“Mahasen was killed instantly and eight individuals were injured, some critically,” the publication quoted Hosam as saying.
Mahasen was also the bread erner of her family as a multifaceted artist. She was a painter, storyboard artist, freelance character designer, and digital art mentor.
