Trump appoints openly gay Richard Grenell as envoy for special missions
US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed his close associate and former acting director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell as the “Envoy for Special Missions”.
Openly gay person Richard Grenell had also demanded the release of PTI founder Imran Khan a few days ago.
It should be remembered that on November 26, while reposting a Bloomberg news regarding PTI’s protest on social media platform X, Richard Grenell wrote that Imran Khan should be released. On his demand, PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari also thanked him on X.
Richard Grenell has been the subject of several controversies in the past, including lewd tweets about women and homophobia. Richard Grenell was the US ambassador to Germany during Donald Trump’s last presidency.
According to the American newspaper, he was hoping to become the Secretary of State. He was the spokesperson of the American mission to the United Nations under several presidents before Trump.
Many conservatives were alienated by his online toxicity, foreign business connections and penchant for personal attacks on political opponents and the media, which helped push him towards Trump.
According to the British newspaper, the president-elect did not outline Grenell’s exact responsibilities, but he wrote on his Truth social platform that he will work in some of the most important places in the world, including Venezuela and North Korea.
During Trump’s first term, Grenell was the acting director of national intelligence and the presidential envoy for negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo.
