The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has officially announced that the moon of Shaban-ul-Moazzam has been sighted in Pakistan, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Shaban.
As a result, Shab-e-Barat, the night of forgiveness, will be observed on the night of February 13, 2025.
The committee confirmed that the first day of Shaban will fall on January 31, following the successful sighting of the crescent moon.
This announcement was made after a thorough process of collecting testimonies and evidence from witnesses across the country.
Shab-e-Barat is a significant event for Muslims, particularly on the 15th night of Shaban. The night is regarded as one of immense spiritual importance, where Muslims seek forgiveness, mercy, and blessings. Many people commemorate the night by visiting the graves of their loved ones, offering prayers, and performing acts of charity. Fasting is also a common practice among some followers.
Observed with great enthusiasm in countries like Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, Shab-e-Barat holds cultural and religious significance, with people gathering at mosques and public spaces to offer prayers and reflect on the occasion.
