Expected petrol prices in Pakistan – February 16
Govt likely to reduce petroleum prices on Eid - Check Prices
The prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan are expected to decrease by Rs2-3 per litre starting February 16, 2025. The federal government is likely to provide relief to the public ahead of Ramadan, following a decline in global oil prices.
Expected Fuel Prices in Pakistan
According to sources, petrol prices may drop to Rs255 per litre, while diesel prices could be around Rs265 per litre.
The final decision will be made by the Prime Minister after reviewing OGRA’s proposal. The new prices will be officially announced on Saturday night.
Current Petrol Prices in Pakistan
| Product | Price (Rs) |
|---|---|
| Super | 257.13 |
| Diesel | 267.95 |
Global Oil Prices Decline
The anticipated price reduction comes as global oil prices dropped over 1%. The decline is linked to the possibility of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine and an increase in US crude inventories.
- Brent crude fell by 1.4% to $74.14 per barrel.
- WTI dropped by 1.5% to $70.33 per barrel.
Market sentiment has shifted from supply concerns to expectations of adequate supply, partly due to a slight rise in Russian crude production.
Last month, the Pakistani government increased petrol prices by Rs1 per litre and diesel by Rs7 per litre for the first half of February 2025. The adjustment followed OGRA’s review, influenced by a $2 increase in Brent crude prices.
The new price reduction will provide much-needed relief to consumers amid fluctuating international oil prices.
