New Zealand beat Pakistan to win tri-nation series
New Zealand secured the tri-nation ODI series title by defeating hosts Pakistan by five wickets at the National Bank Stadium.
A four-wicket haul from Will O’Rourke, along with half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham, powered the Blackcaps to victory.
Chasing 243, New Zealand comfortably reached the target in 45.2 overs, despite an early setback when opener Will Young departed for five.
Kane Williamson (34) and Devon Conway (48) stabilized the innings before Mitchell (57) and Latham (56) guided the chase. Glenn Phillips sealed the win with an unbeaten 20.
Earlier, Pakistan, opting to bat first, were bowled out for 242 in 49.3 overs. Captain Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 46, while Salman Ali Agha contributed 45.
Tayyab Tahir (38) and Faheem Ashraf (22) added vital runs, but the hosts struggled against New Zealand’s bowling attack. O’Rourke claimed 4/43, while Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner took two wickets each.
Naseem Shah led Pakistan’s bowling with two wickets, but New Zealand’s solid batting display ensured a comfortable win, giving them momentum ahead of the upcoming international fixtures.
