How to buy Digital prize bond in Pakistan & When is the Draw?
Islamabad: In a significant move for investors, Pakistan’s government has finalized preparations to introduce digital prize bonds, offering a secure and modern investment avenue.
The National Savings Directorate has completed groundwork for the rollout, with advanced features ensuring compliance with global financial standards.
According to sources, a state-of-the-art mobile application has been developed to facilitate the purchase and management of these bonds. Both existing National Savings Account holders and new investors will be eligible to buy the bonds, which will be available in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 1,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 10,000.
The initiative is projected to attract Rs 800 to 1,000 billion in investments, bolstering national savings and providing a robust alternative to traditional investment methods. The rules governing the bonds have been forwarded to the Cabinet Committee on Legislation for final approval, with officials emphasizing that these digital bonds will rank among Pakistan’s safest investment instruments.
Key security features include safeguards against counterfeiting, theft, and anonymity concerns, addressing past issues with physical prize bonds. Authorities confirmed that the framework adheres to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) guidelines, ensuring transparency and international regulatory compliance.
“These bonds cannot be duplicated or stolen, and the question of anonymous ownership is entirely eliminated,” a source stated. The move aligns with Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its financial sector and meet global anti-money laundering standards.
The launch of digital prize bonds marks a pivotal shift in Pakistan’s savings landscape, combining technological innovation with enhanced security to attract both individual and institutional investors. Further details, including the app’s release date, are expected after legislative approval.
