Cabinet okays massive salary increase for ministers, advisers

The federal cabinet has okayed a salary increase of up to 188 per cent for federal ministers, ministers of state, and advisers on Friday.

The decision has been made through a circulated summary that was approved by the ministers for themselves and their colleagues.

In this connection, amendments were made to the 1975 Act on ministers’ salaries and allowances.

After the development, the federal ministers will now receive Rs519,000 per month, up from Rs200,000. The ministers of state’s salaries will increase from Rs180,000 to the same amount.

The salary of  ministers has been increased by 159 per cent 188 per cent hike has been approved in the salaries ministers of state and advisers to the Prime Minister.

It should be noted that the allowances, vehicles, and office facilities remain separate from salaries.

This summary was earlier set for discussion in the February 4 cabinet meeting but was removed at the last moment.
