Punjab Schools Summer Vacation 2025

10 April, 2025 14:22

The Punjab government is considering starting summer vacations early in schools and colleges as the heatwave continues to worsen across the province.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave alert and has advised the School Education Department to consider adjusting school hours and perhaps using regards to summer vacations as a benefit to students and staff.

Safety Guidelines for Schools

The PDMA has recommended schools to let students wear light and loose clothing and have continuous access to clean, cold drinking water. Schools have also been directed to stop any outdoor activities immediately during hours of peak heat to avoid health issues with children.

With temperatures expected to rise by 4 to 7°C in the coming days, the summer holidays for schools in Punjab could be announced earlier than usual.

The PDMA has sent advisories to all district officials, urging them to take preventive actions. The School Education and Higher Education Departments have been told to stay alert for any immediate changes.

Posters and banners are being installed at bus stops, train stations, and public places to spread awareness about the heatwave. Farmers are also being informed about how the heat may affect crops.

While the date for the summer break has not been officially confirmed yet, monitoring of weather changes will trigger the announcement soon. Parents/guardians and schools should be on notice to watch for the updates from the Punjab Education Department.
