Punjab May Change Schedule for Matric, Inter Exams Results
LAHORE: Education boards in Punjab have decided to introduce reforms to make the examination system more transparent and uniform across the province.
The proposed reforms include changes to the schedule for announcing Matric and Intermediate examination results.
Authorities also plan to ensure that examination papers prepared by different boards follow the same standards and have similar levels of difficulty.
Under the proposed system, students’ performance in each subject will be formally assessed. Examiners will prepare performance-based reports after the examinations, helping authorities understand how students perform in individual subjects. Officials said the difficulty level of papers had previously differed between boards.
To improve examination security, authorities are considering setting up examination centres in halls of major government institutions, where stronger monitoring arrangements can be made.
The marking process will also be improved through additional facilities and a review of the marking scheme. The payment system for paper checkers is expected to be standardised across all education boards, while an online system may be introduced to ensure timely payments after marking is completed.
Authorities also plan to provide proper training to paper checkers and super-checkers.
Chairman CM Task Force Muzammil Mahmood said the reforms are mainly aimed at improving transparency in examinations and providing a better assessment of students’ academic performance.
