THE World University Rankings 2027; No Pakistani University Among Global Top 500

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027 have been released, with no Pakistani university securing a place among the world’s top 500 institutions.
According to the latest THE rankings, Quaid-i-Azam University is the highest-ranked Pakistani institution, placed in the 551–600 band globally.
The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has been placed in the 601–650 band, while COMSATS University Islamabad falls in the 651–700 band.

Bahauddin Zakariya University and the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad are both placed in the 701–800 band. The University of Lahore is also ranked in the same band.
Several other Pakistani universities have been placed in the 801–1000 band, including Air University, Gomal University, Government College University Faisalabad, International Islamic University and the University of the Punjab.
Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and several other Pakistani institutions feature in the 1001–1200 band.
The University of Karachi has been placed in the 1601–1800 band in the 2027 rankings.
The NED University of Engineering and Technology is placed in the 1801–2000 band, while the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) is listed in the 2001+ band.
THE said the 2027 edition covers 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories, making it the largest edition of the World University Rankings so far. The University of Oxford retained the top position globally for the 11th consecutive year.
The rankings assess universities across areas including teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
