Resham Admits to Faking Her Age—Here’s Why She Had to Do It

Pakistani film icon Resham recently made some heartfelt revelations during her appearance on a private channel show.

The Jeeva star admitted that the age on her CNIC isn’t accurate. She revealed the adjustment was made so she could travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah using her first paycheck. “I was underage, and changing the age on my ID was the only way to get the visa,” she said, dodging host Waseem Badami’s playful attempts to uncover her real age.

She also shared that her real name is actually Saima, but she changed it early in her career to avoid confusion with another prominent actress of the same name.

She explained, “There was already an actress named Saima in the industry, so to stand out and avoid confusion, my sister suggested I change my name—and that’s how Resham was born.” The name has since become synonymous with her decades-long success in Lollywood.

In the same interview, Resham opened up about her personal life and marriage plans. She confessed, “I really want to get married and settle down, but I have not found the right person yet.” When asked about the qualities she values in a partner, she listed “loyalty, respect, and sincerity.”

A celebrated figure in Pakistani cinema, Resham was honored with the President’s Pride of Performance Award in 2021 for her contributions to the industry.
