Originally set to begin on April 28, the first phase for Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, and Science General groups (Part I and II) will now start on May 6 or later, disrupting schedules for thousands of students.

BIEK officials cited multiple reasons for the delay, including:

• Unavailability of exam centers due to overlapping schedules.
• Pending adjustments to first-year results after a grace marks controversy.
• Rising concerns over extreme heat alerts in Karachi, risking student health.

The decision follows earlier disruptions caused by the postponement of SSC exams 2025. Initially planned for March 15, matric exams were rescheduled to April 8 after private schools argued holding tests during Ramadan would strain students. These exams now end on May 2, pushing intermediate schedules further.

The second phase for Commerce and Arts groups, initially slated to follow the science stream exams, now faces uncertainty. Board sources confirm the first-phase delay will compress timelines, potentially affecting result declarations and academic calendars.
