NDMA warns of heatwave across Pakistan until April 27
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned about a heatwave expected to affect many parts of Pakistan from today until April 27, as reported by local media.
While some areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir may receive rain today, most parts of the country will experience very hot and dry weather.
In the last 24 hours, the highest temperature was recorded in Jacobabad at 43°C. Other temperatures recorded in cities were:
- Mithi, Bahawalnagar, Nawabshah – 42°C
- Karachi, Kasur, Lasbela – 41°C
- Lahore – 38°C
- Islamabad – 36°C
- Peshawar – 35°C
- Muzaffarabad – 33°C
- Quetta – 25°C
- Gilgit – 22°C
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also said that the weather will likely remain hot and dry in most parts of the country this week. However, rain and thunderstorms with strong winds are possible in upper areas like Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northern KP.
By Wednesday, the weather will stay hot and dry, but skies could be partly cloudy in some northern regions.
