Rapper Tory Lanez was hospitalized Monday morning after being attacked inside a California prison, where he is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet.
According to Pedro Calderon Michel, a spokesperson for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the incident happened around 7:20 a.m. at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. While officials didn’t provide details about the nature of the assault, a post later appeared on Lanez’s official Instagram account claiming he was stabbed 14 times during the attack.
The post stated that Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, suffered serious injuries including collapsed lungs, but is now stable. “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” the message read. It added that he was stabbed in the back, torso, head, and face.
As of now, prison authorities haven’t confirmed the extent of his injuries or revealed any suspects involved in the assault. The incident has raised concerns about safety conditions inside the facility, especially for high-profile inmates like Lanez.
Rapper Tory Lanez was convicted in 2022 and sentenced in 2023 for the high-profile shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, a case that drew national attention and sparked widespread conversations about violence in the music industry.
