Summer Vacations Announced in Hot Areas of the Balochistan

The Government of Balochistan has officially announced the summer vacation schedule for public and private schools in the province’s summer zone.

As per the notification issued by the School Education Department, the summer break will start from May 17 and will continue until July 31, 2025. All schools will reopen on Friday, August 1.

Who Is Affected?

This schedule applies to all schools in areas of Balochistan that experience extreme heat during the summer. Both government and private educational institutions are required to follow these orders.

Instructions to Authorities

The department has directed the Director of Education (Schools) and the Managing Director of the Balochistan Education Foundation (BEF) to ensure the orders are followed properly.

Copies of the notification have also been sent to:

• The Governor and Chief Minister’s offices

• All divisional and district education officers

• Other relevant government departments

This is to make sure the rules are followed across the province without exception.

Why the Early Break?

The decision comes in response to rising temperatures and climate change risks. Health and education officials have warned that intense heatwaves can cause serious problems for students and staff.

A spokesperson from the School Education Department said:

“The health and safety of our children and teachers is our top priority. Learning can be affected in extremely hot weather, and so can the well-being of our students.”

Climate Impact on Education

Experts continue to raise concerns about global warming and its growing effect on daily life. Pakistan is among the most vulnerable countries to climate change. Because of this, provinces like Balochistan are taking early actions to protect students and educators.

Summer Holidays in Punjab

Meanwhile, Punjab has also issued its vacation plan. Schools there will start holidays on June 1 (Sunday) and reopen on August 10 (Sunday). If the heat increases further, the break may start even earlier.
