Pakistan Takes Major Step Towards Crypto Revolution with Government-Backed Bitcoin Reserve

Pakistan has announced the creation of its first government-supported Bitcoin reserve, marking a significant milestone in the country’s crypto landscape.

The announcement was made by Bilal Bin Saqib, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Blockchain and Crypto and CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC), during the Bitcoin Vegas 2025 event.

Bilal Bin Saqib highlighted the country’s progress in digital assets and extended special thanks to Donald Trump for his recent efforts in easing India-Pakistan tensions and promoting cryptocurrency adoption.

The event drew notable attendees, including U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr., underscoring the global attention on Pakistan’s crypto initiatives.

Pakistan currently boasts 40 million crypto wallets and is home to one of the world’s largest and most active freelance economies, according to official sources.

In addition to the Bitcoin reserve, the government of Pakistan announced the launch of a national Bitcoin wallet designed to hold digital assets already under state custody. This move aims to centralize and secure the country’s crypto holdings.

The government has allocated over 2,000 megawatts of electricity in the first phase to support Bitcoin mining and AI data centers. These centers are expected to provide opportunities for autonomous miners, tech companies, and international blockchain firms to establish operations within Pakistan.

Furthermore, the establishment of the Pakistan Digital Assets Authority was developed to oversee and regulate blockchain-based financial infrastructure, reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering a regulated and innovative crypto ecosystem.

This series of initiatives represents a major step forward in Pakistan’s ambition to become a key player in the global cryptocurrency arena.
