Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed that Pakistan is fully prepared to welcome a $2 billion investment from Azerbaijan across various sectors, highlighting the mutual benefits of this strategic partnership.
Speaking to Azerbaijan TV on Thursday before his departure from Lachin to Dushanbe, the premier revealed that Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev had once again affirmed his country’s commitment to invest heavily in Pakistan.
“Yesterday, President Ilham Aliyev again reiterated his commitment to invest $2 billion in Pakistan. We are ready for this investment for mutual benefits,” Prime Minister Shehbaz stated.
He also recalled his participation in the Independence Day celebrations of Azerbaijan held on May 28, a date of significance for Pakistan as well, marking its emergence as a nuclear power in 1998.
The prime minister praised Azerbaijan as a “brotherly and great” nation that has seen remarkable progress under the “dynamic” leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
During his visit, both countries explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, commerce, and investment. Prime Minister Shehbaz also mentioned that future collaboration would include sectors such as defence production, education, health, and more, indicating a deepening strategic alliance between the two nations.
