Big changes in provincial development budgets for 2025-26

Major changes in the development programs of the provinces in the budget for the next fiscal year, 2025-26.

The officials at the Ministry of Finance said that the National Economic Council has increased the development budget of the provinces by Rs423 billion.

The Annual Planning Coordination Committee had recommended a development budget of Rs 2,795 billion for the provinces.

The National Economic Council has increased the development budget of the provinces to Rs 3218 billion, sources said.

The total development budget of the federation and provinces has reached Rs 4224 billion.

The development budget of the provinces has been increased or decreased on their demand.

In this regard, Punjab’s development budget has been increased by Rs177 billion. Punjab’s development budget has been increased from Rs 1188 billion to Rs 1205 billion.

The sources claimed that Punjab’s development budget has been increased even more than the federal budget. The size of the federal PSDP is Rs 1,000 billion.

However, Sindh’s development budget has been increased by Rs78 billion.

On the other side, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s development budget has been cut by Rs22 billion.

Moreover, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s budget has been reduced from Rs440 billion to Rs418 billion.

Furthermore, Balochistan’s development budget has been maintained at Rs 280 billion.

The budget of state-owned enterprises has been increased from Rs288 billion to Rs350 billion.
