Electricity Supply Schedule Issued for Muharram 2025

ISLAMABAD – The Power Division has issued strict instructions to all power distribution companies (Discos) across Pakistan to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the upcoming holy month of Muharram, particularly during Majalis and Ashura processions.

In a letter circulated on Sunday, Federal Power Minister Awais Leghari emphasized the importance of uninterrupted power amid forecasts of extreme heatwave conditions, which could further intensify public distress during religious gatherings.

Emergency Measures Ordered

Minister Leghari directed Discos to:

• Conduct urgent inspections of transmission and distribution systems, especially in sensitive areas.

• Immediately repair any faulty infrastructure.

• Deploy emergency response teams on high alert, particularly on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

• Install standby generators and UPS units at key locations.

• Ensure transformers and essential backup materials are available in all subdivisions.

He also instructed the power companies to coordinate with local authorities and maintain open communication with the public to promptly resolve any electricity issues.

“There will be no tolerance for any lapse in responsibilities during this sacred time,” Minister Leghari warned.

The government’s proactive approach comes as thousands prepare to observe religious rituals in mosques, Imambargahs, and processions across the country.
