Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Agrees to Ceasefire Proposed by US President Trump
Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed on a bilateral ceasefire proposed by US President Donald Trump, declaring that the objectives of Operation “Rising Lion” against Iran were fully achieved—surpassing initial expectations.
A statement from the Israeli government detailed that Netanyahu convened a high-level meeting with the cabinet, the defense minister, and the Mossad chief, during which the operation was officially deemed a success.
The statement emphasized that Israel had eliminated the “dual and immediate threats” stemming from Iran’s nuclear capabilities and ballistic missile program.
It also highlighted that the Israeli Air Force had established full aerial dominance over Tehran, inflicted significant damage on Iran’s military leadership, and destroyed numerous critical government facilities.
Furthermore, the statement confirmed that, following full coordination with US President Donald Trump, Israel had agreed to a bilateral ceasefire proposed by the United States. Nonetheless, it warned that any breach of the agreement would be met with “severe retaliation” from Israel.
Iran Declares Ceasefire
International news broadcaster CNN has claimed that Iran has declared a ceasefire following retaliatory strikes on Israel.
Iranian state media report that a ceasefire has been enforced against the adversary after a military response to US aggression. The decision came after what Iran described as a successful missile strike.
While the precise timing of the ceasefire wasn’t specified, state sources credited the effective missile operation by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the unwavering unity and determination of the Iranian people in defending their homeland as key factors in imposing the truce.
According to CNN, both Iranian and Israeli media have reported the ceasefire. Israeli outlets Channel 12 and Ynet confirmed the development, while Iranian sources including the Iran National News Network and Press TV also covered the announcement.
Iran Strikes on Israel Before Ceasefire
Before the scheduled ceasefire took effect, Iran and Israel continued a series of attacks against each other.
According to reports, Iran launched three missile strikes on Israel throughout the morning, hitting the southern city of Beersheba and resulting in the deaths of four Israelis, with several others wounded. Explosions were also reported in the cities of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
In response, Israel carried out heavy attacks on Tehran, with powerful explosions heard in the cities of Karaj and Rajai. Following these strikes, authorities issued new evacuation warnings for residents in two areas of Tehran.
Iranian FM Araghchi on Ceasefire
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
According to reports, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an official statement that no agreement has been reached so far between Iran and Israel regarding a ceasefire or an end to military operations.
He congratulated the Iranian armed forces and said that if Israel halts its aggression, Iran has no intention of continuing retaliatory action.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi added that a final decision on halting military operations will be made later.
Trump Announces Ceasefire
US President Donald Trump claimed that a complete ceasefire has been agreed upon between Israel and Iran.
President Trump, in a statement released on his social media platform Truth Social, wrote, “Congratulations to everyone, it has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire.”
He stated that hostilities between the two countries would cease six hours from now, after both sides complete their ongoing final missions.
Trump added that Iran would officially begin the ceasefire first, and by the 12th hour, Israel would also initiate its ceasefire. By the 24th hour, the end of the “12-day war” would be formally recognized worldwide.
Donald Trump said that during the ceasefire, both sides will maintain a peaceful and respectful attitude.
The US President congratulated both Israel and Iran for their courage, perseverance, and wisdom in ending a war that could have lasted for years.
He added that the “12-day war” could have gone on for years and had the potential to devastate the entire Middle East — but that didn’t happen, and it won’t.
In another post, Trump wrote, “Congratulations, world—it’s time for peace.”
