Emily Hunt’s Abuser Christopher Killick Jailed After Years of Harassment and Campaigning

04 July, 2025 19:09

Christopher Killick, 45, has been sentenced to three years in prison. This comes after years of harassment against Emily Hunt, a former government rape adviser who fought for justice.

Killick was first convicted of voyeurism in 2020. He had secretly filmed Ms. Hunt naked in a hotel room in 2015 while she was unconscious. Despite this, he avoided prison then and was given a community order and fined.

A Long Fight for Justice

Emily Hunt said it took her 3,706 days—more than 10 years—of fighting to get Killick behind bars. She called the sentence “remarkable” and said she was “incredibly grateful” to finally feel safe.

Killick’s harassment did not stop after the initial conviction. Between 2021 and 2025, he repeatedly broke a court restraining order by tweeting about Ms. Hunt. Despite earlier punishments, including a suspended prison sentence, Killick continued his unwanted contact.

Court’s Strong Words

Judge Michael Maher criticized Killick’s behavior during sentencing. He said Killick’s repeated breaches showed “unwavering persistence” and called Killick obsessed. The judge praised Ms. Hunt’s courage in standing up to him.

Killick reportedly swore at the judge before sentencing.

The Original Case and Police Response

In 2015, Ms. Hunt woke up in a hotel room naked and with no memory of how she got there. She said she was drugged and raped. Killick was arrested but the rape case was dropped due to lack of evidence. Killick has always denied the rape allegation.

Ms. Hunt waived her anonymity to fight publicly for justice. Her efforts led to a law change that allowed police to charge Killick with voyeurism when they found a video he had secretly taken.

Ms. Hunt’s Campaign Work

Ms. Hunt has campaigned to improve the justice system for rape victims. For her work, she was awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire). She served two years as an independent adviser to a Ministry of Justice rape review but resigned in 2023. She said the government lacked the will to improve victims’ experiences.

Public and Police Reactions

Ms. Hunt now lives in the US. She said Killick’s continued offending shows a “failure of the criminal justice system” where court orders are not properly enforced.

Lancashire Police have been involved throughout the case and released Killick’s mugshot after his latest arrest.

What’s Next?

Killick will serve his three-year prison sentence. The case highlights the importance of protecting victims and enforcing court orders.
