BISP Dynamic Poverty Survey Goes Nationwide in 2025

BISP August 2025 – Politics and Vote Influence in Pakistan’s Welfare Program
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is one of Pakistan’s biggest government projects, helping low-income families with financial support. To make sure this aid only goes to people who truly need it, BISP has started a nationwide dynamic poverty survey.
This survey was first tested in 16 districts. After its success, it is now being expanded to every part of the country. Using a Poverty Scorecard, BISP collects updated family information to check who still qualifies for the program.
What Is the Dynamic Survey?
The dynamic poverty survey is a process where BISP updates its records by asking families about:
How many people live in your house
The type of home you have
Your utilities (like gas, water, electricity)
Your income and expenses
Children’s school attendance
Health conditions in your household
Based on this data, a poverty score is calculated. If your score falls below the set level, you will remain eligible for BISP assistance.
Unlike earlier surveys that were done every few years, this system is continuous, meaning you can update your record anytime your situation changes.
Why Is It Important?
There are a few reasons why this survey is now nationwide:
- More Accurate Data – Old records might not show your current financial situation.
- Fair Distribution – Families who no longer qualify will be removed, and new deserving families will be added.
- Better Planning – The government can plan education, health, and other services using fresh data.
- Preventing Fraud – It ensures only verified people get financial aid.
Who Needs to Take the Survey?
You should complete the survey if:
You already receive BISP payments but haven’t updated your record in years.
You get a message from 8171 asking you to update your data.
You are applying for BISP for the first time.
Your family situation has changed (new members, change in income, etc.).
What You Should Bring
To make the process smooth, take these with you:
Your original CNIC
Child B-Forms for kids under 18
A utility bill or rent agreement as proof of address
A mobile number registered in your name
Any documents showing changes in income or household size
How to Complete the Survey
Go to the nearest BISP center or look for mobile vans in your area.
Provide your CNIC and other required documents.
Answer the staff’s questions honestly.
Give biometric verification (fingerprint).
You’ll get a confirmation SMS or printed slip when done.
The whole process usually takes 20–30 minutes.
What Happens If You Don’t Do the Survey?
If you’re already a BISP beneficiary and don’t update your record:
Your payments might stop or get delayed.
Your record may show as “incomplete” or “expired.”
You may need to reapply later from the beginning.
So don’t ignore any SMS or invitation from 8171 to complete your survey.
