Iran Confirms No Plans to Halt Nuclear Program, Including Uranium Enrichment
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran has no intention of stopping its nuclear program, including uranium enrichment.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking on a US news channel program, said that enrichment is currently halted because, yes, the nuclear facilities have suffered severe and significant damage, but we cannot stop enrichment because it is an important achievement of our scientists.
He said that uranium enrichment is a source of pride for the Iranian nation, and any future nuclear agreement must include the right to uranium enrichment.
He added that Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization is assessing how much actual damage has been done to the nuclear material or enriched material.
It should be noted that after the Israeli attacks on Tehran, the United States bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22. These targets included the underground uranium enrichment facility located south of Tehran in Fordow.
US President Donald Trump claimed that these facilities had been completely destroyed.
The Iranian Foreign Minister admitted that yes, the facilities were damaged, but this technology is available to us. Our nuclear program, especially the enrichment process, is not something imported that can be destroyed by bombing; this issue cannot be resolved militarily.
