Pakistan Navy launches new PNS Sahiwal gun boat
The Pakistan Navy held a special ceremony on Thursday to launch the newly designed PNS Sahiwal Gun Boat at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW).
The event was attended by Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami, as the chief guest, according to a statement by Pakistan Navy’s Public Relations office.
PNS Sahiwal is a modern gun boat, designed by the Navy’s own Platform Design Wing (PDW) and is being built at KS&EW. It features advanced, long-range semi-automatic weapons and will help improve the Navy’s strength in sea operations.
While speaking at the ceremony, Vice Admiral Bilgrami praised the joint efforts of the PDW and KS&EW teams in supporting the Pakistan Navy’s goal to build its own warships. He also thanked the Ministry of Defence Production for its ongoing support.
He shared that this new gun boat will play an important role in maritime security operations, and added that the Navy plans to build more vessels like this in the future to boost local shipbuilding and self-reliance.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Pakistan Navy, the Ministry of Defence Production, KS&EW, and the shipbuilding industry.
