9 Dead, 500 Homes Lost, 300 Rescued as Flash Floods Hit GB

Flash Floods Hit GB
Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is facing a severe natural disaster as flash floods have killed at least nine people, including two women and two children. According to GB government spokesperson Faizullah Firaq, 10 to 12 people are still missing, and rescue operations are ongoing.
The worst-hit area is Diamer district, which suffered the highest number of casualties and extensive property damage. So far, 500 homes have been destroyed and over 12 kilometers of roads washed away by the powerful floods.
The disaster has also swept away 27 bridges and 22 vehicles, along with numerous shops, cattle sheds, and large amounts of valuable construction timber.
At least 12 people have been injured, while more than 300 stranded tourists and travelers have been successfully rescued. The Pakistan Army and GB Scouts are actively assisting in relief and rescue efforts.
Firaq said that ongoing landslides and strong water currents are making it difficult for search teams to reach the missing people. Restoration of key infrastructure, including roads, electricity, and water supply, remains a major challenge.
Despite the situation, the Gilgit-Baltistan government has assured the public that flood victims will be fully supported and not left alone during this crisis.
