Pakistan Celebrates 78th Independence Day with traditional zeal

14 August, 2025 11:44

August 14, 2025 – Islamabad: The people of Pakistan are celebrating the nation’s 78th Independence Day today with a renewed pledge to work with the spirit of the Pakistan Movement and make the country a true Islamic welfare state.

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and a 21-gun salute in all provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered in mosques for peace, unity, and prosperity across the country.

The main flag-hoisting ceremony is being held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will raise the national flag.

This year’s celebrations carry extra enthusiasm following Pakistan’s recent Marka-e-Haq victory against India’s unprovoked aggression. The military success has strengthened national pride and unity.

Cities and towns across the country are decorated with national flags, colourful buntings, and lights. People have hoisted flags on rooftops, vehicles, and streets to show their love for Pakistan.

Leaders’ Independence Day Messages

President Asif Ali Zardari said the day is a moment of “renewed pride and hope.” He praised the unity and resilience shown during the Marka-e-Haq operation, calling it a source of confidence in Pakistan’s institutions and a boost to its global image.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed for Pakistan’s freedom. He said Independence Day 2025 is not just a celebration but also a call for unity, justice, and peaceful coexistence. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to economic reforms and safeguarding national sovereignty.
