President Approves 11th NFC to Distribute Resources

Islamabad: The President of Pakistan has officially formed the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC), according to a notification issued by the Finance Division.

The new commission will have nine members. The Federal Finance Minister will serve as the Chairman, while the finance ministers of all four provinces will also be part of the body. The notification confirmed that Punjab will be represented by Nasir Khosa, Sindh by Asif Saeed, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by Musharraf Rasool, and Balochistan by Farmanullah.

The 11th NFC has been tasked with recommending the distribution of financial resources between the federation and the provinces. It will also make recommendations on the borrowing powers of both the federal and provincial governments under the Constitution. Once completed, its recommendations will be sent to the President of Pakistan for approval.

The Finance Division has further clarified that, under the Rules of Business, the NFC will be provided with a secretariat office to carry out its work.

With the notification of the new commission, the NFC formed in July 2020 has been dissolved with immediate effect.
