Islamabad and Rawalpindi witnessed heavy rainfall last night, leading to widespread flooding in several areas and causing significant disruption.
Floodwaters submerged parts of Bara Kahu and Athal Chowk, with rainwater entering houses, shops, and stranding numerous vehicles. Several nullahs and streams across Islamabad overflowed, worsening the situation.
Authorities responded swiftly, with the Assistant Commissioner and rescue teams deployed on-site, urging citizens to exercise caution. The spillways of Rawal Dam were opened after water levels rose sharply.
In the capital, one side of the Double Road was inundated, forcing traffic to be diverted into a single lane.
Meanwhile, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) announced the closure of all major Margalla Hills hiking trails, including Trails 2, 3, 4, 5, and the Saidpur Village Trail, due to the weather forecast and safety concerns.
