World Bank Approves $47.9 Million Grant for Education in Punjab

The World Bank has approved a grant of USD 47.9 million for Pakistan, which will be allocated to education initiatives in Punjab, benefiting over 4 million children.

According to the World Bank, the funding, approved under the Global Partnership for Education Fund, aims to improve children’s participation at pre-primary and primary levels, according to the World Bank. The project will also focus on promoting early education and reintegrating out-of-school children.

Additionally, the project will strengthen the special education system for children with disabilities, with 80,000 out-of-school children and 140,000 children with special needs set to benefit. It will cover over 3 million children in public schools and 850,000 children in the informal sector.

The initiative will provide 100,000 teachers and school leaders with opportunities for training and professional development.

The World Bank described the project as a milestone for system reforms and sustainable development in Punjab, aligning with the Punjab Government’s educational reform agenda.
