Ravi River Flood Alert: High Water Flow Recorded at Shahdara

28 August, 2025 12:05

A high flood level has been reported in the Ravi River at Shahdara, where water flow has risen to 145,160 cusecs, putting authorities on high alert.

Lahore Commissioner confirmed that the water flow may rise further, potentially touching 160,000 cusecs later today. He reassured the public that the situation is “under control for now,” with the river’s maximum capacity standing at 250,000 cusecs. All relevant departments and the district administration remain fully prepared to respond.

At Jassar point, however, the flood intensity has shown signs of decline, with water levels dropping to 152,000 cusecs. Authorities continue to monitor the overall situation closely to act swiftly in case of emergencies.

Relief operations are underway as Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122, and district administration teams work together to protect residents. Thousands of people have already been shifted to safer locations as a precaution against the rising water levels.

Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed confirmed that all families living along the riverbanks have been relocated. He also directed the administration to ensure public safety by restricting unnecessary gatherings near the river.

In a public appeal, he urged citizens to remain cautious. “Stay safe and avoid all non-essential movement around flood-prone areas,” the Relief Commissioner advised.
