Petrol, Diesel Prices Likely to Drop Despite Flood Concerns
Despite the recent spell of heavy rains, landslides, and flash floods that have hit several regions of the country including Punjab, and fears of the impact spreading to Sindh, there may be a slight relief for citizens as fuel prices are expected to decline from September 1.
According to industry sources, the downward trend in the international oil market has opened the way for a minor reduction in domestic petroleum product prices. Estimates suggest that the price of petrol may fall by Rs. 0.61 per liter, bringing it to Rs. 264.00 per liter.
In addition, the price of high-speed diesel could see a more significant drop of Rs. 3.13 per liter, reducing it to Rs. 269.86 per liter. Similarly, kerosene may decrease by Rs. 1.57 per liter, while light diesel oil could be reduced by Rs. 2.61 per liter.
The government is expected to make the official announcement of the revised fuel prices by midnight tomorrow, with the changes taking effect from September 1.
