Rafiq Habib, Former Chairman of House of Habib, Passes Away in Dubai at 88

Dubai/Karachi, Wednesday, September 3, 2025 – Prominent Pakistani businessman and philanthropist Rafiq Habib, the former chairman of the House of Habib and founding chancellor of the Habib University Foundation, passed away in Dubai at the age of 88.

Born in 1937, Rafiq Habib became one of the most respected figures in Pakistan’s corporate and social circles. Under his leadership, the House of Habib grew into one of the country’s largest business groups, with ventures in banking, finance, insurance, and industry.

Beyond business, his legacy is deeply tied to philanthropy and education. He believed in using wealth and influence to serve the public good, especially by supporting higher education.

Rafiq Habib played a historic role in the founding of Habib University, a premier institution of higher learning in Karachi. As the founding chancellor of the Habib University Foundation, he guided the project with his vision, generosity, and leadership.
