OGRA raises LNG prices in Pakistan - check new rates
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced another increase in liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices. According to a notification issued on Thursday, the prices have gone up by as much as 2.63%.
Under the new rates, LNG on the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) system has been raised by $0.28, reaching $12.01 per Metric Million British Thermal Unit (mmbtu). On the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) system, the price also increased by $0.28, now set at $11.01 per mmbtu.
This comes after a smaller increase last month, when the SSGC system price went up by $0.15 to $10.73 per mmbtu.
At the same time, Pakistan is considering delaying dozens of LNG cargoes from Qatar starting in 2026. Officials say at least 24 shipments may be deferred under long-term contracts, much higher than the five shipments already postponed from 2025.
Currently, Pakistan imports about nine LNG cargoes every month under two deals with Qatar, making a total of 108 shipments annually. The delays are being considered due to weak demand, financial losses in gas sales, and the growing use of cheaper solar power.
