Global Sumud Flotilla Comes Under Attack by Israeli Forces During Humanitarian Mission to Gaza

GAZA: The Global Sumud Flotilla, en route to Gaza carrying humanitarian aid, has reportedly come under attack by Israeli forces, with multiple explosions and ongoing drone activity reported near the vessels.

Brazilian activist Thiago Avila confirmed that the tenth explosion near the flotilla has been recorded, while drones continue hovering over the ships, disrupting communication systems.

A group of Pakistani nationals, led by Mushtaq Ahmed, is also participating in the civilian flotilla.

In a video message, Avila said, “We just heard the tenth explosion. They are still attacking our peace mission. They are targeting small boats, attempting to destroy their sails. They are using devices that can harm people and damage the boats.”

Avila appealed to the international community, stressing the urgent need for global attention to the attacks on their humanitarian mission, which is protected under international law. “This is a human mission, and it is under attack,” he added.

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, expressed serious concern over the situation. She shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the flotilla had been attacked at least seven times in a short period, using sound bombs, explosive flares, suspected chemical sprays, and radio jamming, while calls for assistance were reportedly blocked, increasing the risks for those aboard.
