Cyclone Warning for Karachi: Rain Forecast Amidst Scorching Heat

29 September, 2025 12:45

Karachi residents are closely monitoring the weather as a cyclone forming over the Bay of Bengal advances towards the Arabian Sea. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has confirmed that this weather system may affect southeastern and lower Sindh, including Karachi’s coastal areas.

According to the PMD, the cyclone is expected to enter the Arabian Sea near India’s Gujarat state. Despite this development, Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid, with the ongoing heatwave continuing across most parts of Sindh.

Light to moderate rainfall is forecasted between September 29 and 30 in districts such as Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Sujawal, and Sanghar. On September 30, Karachi may experience cloud formation in the afternoon or evening following a hot day.

The PMD predicts temperatures in Karachi to reach 36°C today, rising to 38°C tomorrow. Light rain showers are possible in some parts of the city tomorrow. Other districts including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Badin, Sujawal, and Thatta could also see rain accompanied by dust storms.

Residents have been urged to stay informed with regular weather updates as the cyclone moves closer to the Sindh region.
