“My Karachi for Votes, Bye Karachi for Work,” Governor Sindh’s Sharp Critique

04 October, 2025 12:20

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori has criticized the current political climate and rising inflation in the country, saying that much has changed due to these issues.

Speaking at a public event, Governor Tessori said, “When it’s time to get votes, it’s ‘My Karachi’; but when it’s time to work, they say ‘Bye Karachi.’”

He also expressed concern about the declining state of arts and culture in Pakistan. “Just like every sector, the fine arts are also in decline. Sadly, we are slowly moving away from literature,” he said.

Tessori highlighted that theatre in Pakistan is no longer suitable for family viewing, and surprisingly noted that more work is being done for Urdu in Punjab than in Karachi. He announced that a mushaira (poetry session) will now be held every month at the Governor House.

Commenting on the economic situation, Governor Tessori said that inflation and political instability have deeply affected the country, making life harder for ordinary citizens.
